From the Music Director

Welcome to the home of the World Civic Orchestra. The WCO is a newly formed orchestra, which had a phenomenal inaugural concert on June 20, 2010 performing Beethoven’s Choral with 87 orchestral and 120 choral members on the historical stage of Carnegie Hall. Musicians from the USA and around the world, representing 18 countries, with ages ranging from 18 to 80 years old, traveled to New York City to play together through their hearts and their passion for music. Performers consisted of members from The Philadelphia Orchestra to a high school student from the Midwest. They all assembled to share in one common goal - fill the differences of the world we live in today. We are very excited to expand our mission through the performance of music at the highest level. Given the exceptional commitment and dedication of all the members, I am confident that we can continue to climb the long steps toward this eternal goal together. Vincent Koh

The World Civic Orchestra is in its 2nd concert season and continues to uplift audiences with their performances and contributes to the professional armature of artistic life in New York City and around the globe. Our goal is to work together to reach out and share our valuable orchestra and splendid guest artist with more of our friends within the metropolitan community, out of states and around the world. We would like to see more of our growing audience to consider volunteering some time, opening and sharing your residence to a visiting guest artist, or contributing to the “Gift of Melody” campaign of the World Civic Orchestra. Together we will develop a better financial foundation, which enables us to sustain the highest level of achievement and accomplishment in presentation and performance, thus ensuring the up-and-coming of this unique outstanding orchestra. Our dedication to the World Civic Orchestra is not a commitment just to the World Civic Orchestra, but to our community as a whole. Those who give generously to support the orchestra deserve special appreciation. To those of you who attend the concerts, some for the first time and some second timers, we welcome you with great delight. We look forward to enjoying a fabulous outstanding concert with old and new friends. Welcome to the World Civic Orchestra family and enjoy the upcoming season!!! Dr. Chiang Sheng Johnny Kuo

Mission Statement
The mission of the World Civic Orchestra is to use music as a means to bridge the world’s differences.
The WCO believes that music can help the world understand and appreciate the differences that too often lead to conflict because its essence is not bound by culture, race or religion; rather it is a universal language that touches the human soul.
